About Us

Build Up NT was started by Wendy Nelson and Peter Maplestone, tertiary qualified social workers with over 40 years of combined experience.

We have lived and worked in the NT since 2013 and are here to stay.

We chose the name “Build Up” because we identify with the season (the one we all sweat through; the one that drives some away) and because we strive to be constructive (building and improving skills, positive behaviour and quality of life).

Our Team

Peter and Wendy are NDIS approved Social Workers and Behaviour Support Practitioners, and members of the Australian Association of Social Workers and Behaviour Support Practitioners Australia.

We have served clients with complex needs in a variety of settings in Australia and the UK:

Adult Education, Aged Care Assessment, Child Protection, Community Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Defence, Disability, Guardianship, Mental Health, Palliative Care, Rehabilitation, and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults.

We have completed extensive postgraduate training. Wendy holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Positive Behaviour Support (Flinders Uni). Peter has trained in multi element behaviour support (IABA).
